Named for the Peoples family, who owned land in the area...

Peoplestown is one of the six neighborhoods comprising Atlanta’s urban core and is located just south of Turner Field and central Atlanta, to west of Grant Park, and to the east of Interstate 75.

Peoplestown is the current home to over 3,200 individuals and has a rich history of community-based organizing and deep social networks.

Emmaus House, formed in 1967, historically served as an incubator for neighborhood-based organizing and empowerment, and gave birth to tenant unions as well as Atlanta’s first welfare rights organization.
